Today is all about the blueberry! Blueberries are Sir Streusel’s favorite summer fruit. Strawberries run a close second, but I believe the blueberry wins being his favorite by a nose. I am sharing a few of his very favorite blueberry recipes that I bake for him so that you can use up all those blueberries you have picked this summer. I am nice that way!
Why do I love pancakes, oh let me count the ways!
- They are fun!
- They are for everyone!
- They are for breakfast!
- They are for dinner!
- They are cute!
- They have a holiday named after them, “National Pancake Day”.
- They are easy to make!
- They can be made into a cake!!!
This past weekend was beautiful in Pensacola. Perfect temperatures, perfect weather, perfect day to take a ride and spend the day outside enjoying a festival. Fairhope, Alabama has to be, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful Southern towns to visit. It is about an hour from our home. It truly represents everything Southern. The annual Arts and Crafts festival was this past weekend. We saw some amazing pieces but more importantly we enjoyed just being outside enjoying the glorious day!
Sir Streusel had a GREAT day! He didn’t think twice about getting his picture made with these Southern Belle’s. He may look confused, but trust me, he knew right where he was!
I have been posting Valentine’s goodness for 2 weeks. I have rounded all of them into one post for you. I am helpful like that. Aren’t you glad you are my friend? There is so much goodness here to choose from.
I introduced my Sweet Mama to Snapchat. I created a monster.
Now I am just going to throw this next one out there on the table for ya.
Her crowning moment was the video we did. This was a complete spur of the moment, off the cuff, first take. She is a pro!
Now the scene stealer isn’t Sweet Mama, as cute as she is, it’s Big Daddy completely ignoring us just walking around, minding his own business in the background. #heaintgotnouseforsnapchat
So, this happened Tuesday.
Sir Streusel had his widdle knee repaired. The day before, he threw his back out, like, really threw his back out. If it was graded he would get an A+. The major drugs he was on when we left the hospital made him forget all about his back pain.
We got home and then this happened.
Baby Stella whined until I picked her up so she could lay in Daddy’s lap. She knew he didn’t feel well and cried until she got to him. She is such a sweet little girl. She only weighs 4 lbs. so I knew she wouldn’t cause him any pain. Plus, he was on happy pills. I mean the “Happy Happy Pills”!
The first morning after surgery was a bit of a challenge. Lot of swelling, lot of pain and the major drugs had worn off so he could feel his back pain. Poor guy. I crushed happy pills into his breakfast….#iaintnofool
Now we go through PT and he will be better than new.
Does your Thanksgiving dessert table need spicing up this year? Well this is the little cake that will do the job. This is a chocolate, pecan, spice loaf cake with cream cheese icing. Yes, you read that right. For such a little cake, it packs all things good and wonderful about the Thanksgiving season. This cake comes together really fast as it uses a cake mix for its base. I am one of those people who tends to go overboard on desserts when we get together, which is rare, so it is a treat when there is a cake that comes together quickly. You can adjust the pumpkin pie spice and nutmeg to your taste preferences. You may be feeling like spicy Sally, or just feeling a tad spicy. Me, I am pretty spicy…ask Sir Streusel. Now let’s discuss Cream Cheese Frosting. I don’t need to put this frosting on anything. Just hand me a spoon, then back away. Some of the frosting may actually find its way to the cake! So, to sum up this cake, start with a cake mix. Add chocolate, spices and top it with yummy cream cheese frosting and you have yourself a delicious little spice cake to be thankful for!
The third Tuesday of every month, the ladies in our Sunday School Class, The FOLD, meet at a restaurant for Ladies Night Out. Edna provides a baked treat or goodies to share with the ladies. The Ladies of the FOLD love, and I mean LOVE, Edna. Recently, I saw this giant Donut Cake Pan and knew I had to have it. I have no regrets for the purchase. It makes the cutest Donut Cake that is perfect for Birthday parties, Ladies Night Out, or breakfast fellowships. I really can’t think of any occasion this cake would not be perfect for. It is so easy. I used a Strawberry jam filling that was delicious with the glaze icing. It received a lot of ‘oohs and aahhhs’ from the ladies when I lifted the cake pan. But then again, these ladies always ooh and aah!!
