Eggnog, people either love it or hate it. I love it! I wait for it to arrive in the grocery store like I do for Pumpkin Spice in the fall. So far this holiday season, I have baked two Eggnog Cakes, Eggnog Cupcakes, and two different batches of eggnog cookies. I fall in the “loves eggnog” category. Continue reading Eggnog Cake
All you have to do is step inside any store and you will immediately find that it is Pumpkin Spice season everywhere! Now don’t get me wrong, I am a full blow Pumpkin Spice Latte addict. I get one almost, almost, everyday. My day revolves around getting my Pumpkin Spice fix. But, Pumpkin Spice cough drops….uhm….not today….not ever.
Today is all about the blueberry! Blueberries are Sir Streusel’s favorite summer fruit. Strawberries run a close second, but I believe the blueberry wins being his favorite by a nose. I am sharing a few of his very favorite blueberry recipes that I bake for him so that you can use up all those blueberries you have picked this summer. I am nice that way!
Why do I love pancakes, oh let me count the ways!
- They are fun!
- They are for everyone!
- They are for breakfast!
- They are for dinner!
- They are cute!
- They have a holiday named after them, “National Pancake Day”.
- They are easy to make!
- They can be made into a cake!!!
Still looking for a little Cinco de Mayo treat? Need a little flavor from the Florida Keys? I can hook you up!!! In the South, we like to poke things, even our cakes. We love to bake a sheet cake then poke and fill the holes with a jello based filling. This type of cake became a phenomenon in the 70’s and has never stopped making appearances at potlucks and dinner tables.
This past weekend was beautiful in Pensacola. Perfect temperatures, perfect weather, perfect day to take a ride and spend the day outside enjoying a festival. Fairhope, Alabama has to be, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful Southern towns to visit. It is about an hour from our home. It truly represents everything Southern. The annual Arts and Crafts festival was this past weekend. We saw some amazing pieces but more importantly we enjoyed just being outside enjoying the glorious day!
Sir Streusel had a GREAT day! He didn’t think twice about getting his picture made with these Southern Belle’s. He may look confused, but trust me, he knew right where he was!
I have been posting Valentine’s goodness for 2 weeks. I have rounded all of them into one post for you. I am helpful like that. Aren’t you glad you are my friend? There is so much goodness here to choose from.
It’s been COLD in Florida. I mean like, actually wearing a coat cold!!! Rare days indeed for us but so much fun. Sir Streusel was outside doing yard work in the cold and I baked us a cake….no surprise there. I have been wanting a Poppy Seed Cake and a cold day seemed like the perfect time to bake one.
Have I mentioned that I love this time of year?! The music, the Hallmark movies that ALL have the same ending, the food, the parties, getting to wear Christmas jewelry, and baking for friends. Sometimes I feel like this after a full day of Christmas baking…..
But most of the time I feel like this….
It’s the holiday season! It’s party season! It’s the season to eat! It’s CAKE season!! Oh my I love this season. I had a party this past weekend, have two parties this week, and I have a party and a luncheon next week. All of these events require a cake that easily transported. That means…..a 13″ x 9″ cake…lots of them. This cake will be partying quite a bit with me.
