Blueberry Muffins

This week I had my annual mammogram.  No biggie, go in and get ‘er done.  The following day I received the dreaded phone call, “Mrs. Sheaffer, we need you to come back for more pictures.  The doctor saw some irregularities. ”  It became very quiet in our home for the rest of the day.  Neither Eric nor myself slept at all that night.  The next morning, we head for round two of pictures.  I had confided in a handful of friends for prayer and they were so wonderful.  Everyone of them were sending me texts or Facebook Messages telling me they were covering me in prayer and that they loved me.  My phone was going off non-stop.  There is no greater feeling than having the support of wonderful friends.  Great news!!!! BENIGN!  When Eric was told I was clean, he broke down crying.  I didn’t realize how stressed he was.  It broke my heart to see him like that and that I could cause him so much stress.  The flip side is, we did the Happy Dance together!

Praline French Toast

It’s amazing how such a few ingredients such as bread, sugar, milk, eggs, cinnamon and vanilla can make something so  good.  French Toast has to be the epitome of a lazy Saturday Breakfast, or a Friday night dessert, or a Sunday brunch, or a Wednesday snack.  I believe French Toast should not be limited to Saturday morning breakfast.  It should be enjoyed anytime of any day.  Thank you for letting me get on my French Toast Soapbox!

Mile High Quiche

Sometimes the best dinner is breakfast.  I don’t mean dinner at breakfast time, that would be crazy right? I mean breakfast food at dinner time!  It seems every time I serve breakfast for dinner we say, “Why don’t we do this more often?”  I mean, is there a law somewhere that says breakfast foods may not be served at any time other than breakfast??  Not in my world.  Seriously, this Quiche has bacon and cheese in it.  That alone qualifies it to be served at any meal during the day.  This Quiche can be prepared in a deep dish pie plate or a tart tin.  It fluffs up so pretty with the bacon and cheese peeking out.

Raisin Bran Muffins

So this weekend, Sir Streusel and I were out and a song came on the radio.

I said, “I like that song.  It makes me want to get my groove on.”

Sir Streusel responds, “I like it too.  It’s snazzy!”

I respond, “Snazzy?”

Sir Streusel, “Yes, snazzy.”

I said, “You do know you just dated yourself, like, really dated yourself.”

Sir Streusel, “Your hair looks really pretty today.  Let’s forget I said ‘snazzy’.”

Snazzy dude, like....snazzy

The Best Bread Pudding Ever

Until I married Sir Streusel, I had never tasted Bread Pudding.  To tell you the truth, I had only read about it in books.  Bread Pudding had never made an appearance on my Sweet Mama’s table, ever.  Enter Sir Streusel into my life and I learn that the man I married worshiped his Mom’s Bread Pudding.  He would order it in restaurants and push it away every time.  I didn’t pay too much attention with what was going on with his search of the perfect Bread Pudding.  Hey, I always had my dessert that was normally smothered and covered in chocolate so I was happy.  After many years of being in a chocolate coma, I realized the sweetest man ever was not living a life of full satisfaction.  Sadley, poor Sir Streusel had come to accept a life minus his great love…..Bread Pudding.  I made it my life’s mission to make the life of this man complete.  After trying countless cookbook recipes, he still had not found his true love.  I then began to put my own recipe together based on the feedback I had received on what was wrong with the previous 487 pans of Bread Pudding I had baked for him.  It took many trial and errors, and I mean MANY,  but I did it!  I am happy to report that Sir Streusel lives a fulfilled life.  He is now complete!

French Toast with Blueberry Syrup

Saturday morning breakfast is my very favorite meal to cook every week.  Sir Streusel travels with his work and Saturday is the day he gets to slow it down a bit.  His favorite meal has always been breakfast.  However, eating hotel breakfast four morning a week has made him crave a home cooked breakfast..by me..and Edna.  I look forward to it because I refuse to rush my morning to have breakfast on the table.  What fun is that?!  None I tell ya!  I enjoy the slow pace of Saturday morning.  Having a slow cup of coffee or hot tea, having my quiet time and the girls on my lap.  Good stuff.

When I sit, this happens every time. I can't say know to these faces. Please excuse Stella's sleeping pose. She has never been one to act the proper lady like her sister Paloma.
