A Great Weekend with DONUTS!

Don’t you love the weekends?  Man oh man I do!  I try not to lift one finger for cleaning, running errands, or breaking a sweat.  I just want to kick back and do whatever we want to do, whenever when want to do it!  This past weekend we enjoyed brunch, went to the farmer’s market, relaxed at the beach, visited Vivian in her rehab facility, and finished off the day with DONUTS!!!  The weekend started off great with brunch at one of our favorite downtown restaurants, The Ruby Slipper Cafe.

My meal was two biscuits topped with a fried green tomato. The tomatoes were covered with shrimp in a tomato sauce. Oh my goodness, I need this in my life everyday!
Sir Streusel’s plate was Banana Foster with Candied Bacon. I snuck a bite, it was a good bite, it was a glorious bite, it was heaven!

We are so fortunate in Pensacola to have one of the best Farmer’s Market in the state.  It is one of our favorite things to do on Saturday morning. We hit up the market then head out to the beach for a couple of hours.

After the market we hit the beach.  I mean, wouldn’t you if you had this in your backyard??

We visited Vivian, Sir Streusel’s mom, in her rehab facility.  She fell and broke her hip a couple of weeks ago.  She is doing as well as can be expected.  I gathered old pictures to take for her to look through.  She could tell us who every single person was in the old pictures, the new pictures…..not so much.

I loved seeing Eric having some rare laughs with his mom.

Eric did some yard work, it is never ending.  My hydraengeas are coming in.  I love they way they fill my backyard with different colors.

Sunday afternoon I looked at Sir Streusel and said, “I want a donut, now, not later, I want a want a donut now.”  Well he is one to make the desires of my heart come true so we headed to Krispy Kreme to make me happy!

Look at that glorious deliciousness. It’s just waiting for me to dig in!

That chocolate baby is filled with caramel…swoon…and covered in chocolate with sea salt.

This is a view of the caramel inside the donut.  I ate every single bite, I even licked my fingers.  My two favorithe things, chocolate and caramel, together in a DONUT!!!!

It was a good weekend.  Full of fun things.  Lately our weekends have been full of taking care of Viv so a day at the Farmer’s Market and the beach was a full blown vacation.

Love ya,

Jody and Edna
